National

For a convenient, local van hire solution, go National. Their 170 U.K. branches mean there is one likely around the corner from you. And even if their own offices are out of your reach, their Drive Alliance partnership with Enterprise means you can pick up from one of their locations instead.

Drive Alliance is a partnership between National, Enterprise and Alamo to provide and support vehicle rental customers throughout Europe.

Should your van rental be handled by Enterprise there are no additional fees, and Enterprise will honour your rental agreement with National in full.

National – Rental

To get the best deal from National you can pre-pay online and bag yourself a discount of up to 9% on the price of your rental. As well as a full complement of modern, National van rental also offers optional extras such as child seats, GPS and additional drivers.

There is a safety net for late arrivals whereby National will hold onto your vehicle for 2 hours after the reserved time.

You must be 25 years old or over to drive a National van.

One way van hire is available with National and you can drop off your van at any other National van hire branch. Their one way van hire service will require an additional fee.

International

International van hire is not currently available with National, and any rental must stay within the borders of the U.K.

Cancellation policy

You can cancel any pre-paid online booking up to 7 days before the pickup date for free.

Any pre-paid online booking cancelled within 7 days before pickup date, 24 hours before the pickup time, will be charged a fee up to the full amount of your reservation (with a maximum charge of £45).

Any cancellations to pre-paid online bookings within 24 hours of the pickup time will receive no refund.

Bookings that are pay upon arrival can be cancelled at any time with no charge.

Payment

National van rental accepts payment from most credit and debit cards (all cards must be embossed).

Credit Cards: American Express, Eurocard, MasterCard, Visa

Debit Cards: Visa Debit.

Unless otherwise specified, renters must pay the full amount for their hire plus a security deposit of £300 using a major credit or debit card in their own name, which should also be the name of the renter. The security deposit will be returned in full upon the arrival of the van.

Payment by cash or cheque is not accepted.

Documentation

Insurance

National includes insurance with every van rental quote. The Damage Waiver (DW) which reduces the costs that may be liable in the event of damage and/or theft of the vehicle. The excess liable will vary between £900 and £1400 (depending on van).

You can also choose additional coverage by way of Excess Protection (EP) which reduces any excess liable by £900. Excess Protection can be purchased for £16.55 per day including VAT and any Premium Location fees.

Roadside Assistance Protection (RAP) is also available and provides cover for all vulnerable areas of the vehicle (not covered by the Damage Waiver). This includes:

This insurance removes all financial liability for damages and reduces any excess amount to zero.

RAP can be purchased for £5.75 per day.
